Beveragraphy: Revisiting the Typology of Food Writing from the Perspective of Culinary Linguistics

From the perspectives of culinary linguistics, food writing typology, as proposed by Gerhardt, circumnavigates around recipes, restaurant menus, and labeling. This study attempts to propose fourth type, beveragraphy, which deals with beveragraphs or writings on drinking wares drink liquid itself. phenomenon beveragraphy has caught Indonesian coffee shops storm. To prove existence we investigated this type visiting 20 shops, examined 60 beveragraphs, interviewed shop managers, baristas, customers. that deserves a scholarly attention in studies writing, attempted reveal its characteristics functions implementing theory text typology Reiss, meta-narrative loss discourse Srinivas, archetype brand setting Mark Pearson. The findings indicate is characterized spatial restrictive it narrative synchronization. Future might employ point departure discourse.
